This little guy, “Mac,” was born in May. He has been my buddy all summer! He follows me around like a puppy and is always the first to greet me when I get to the barn.
Since he’s related to most of the herd, he can’t be used for breeding…but I guess he forgot to read that chapter in the goat manual. A few days ago he bred all the does. The vet administered “morning after” shots, so all is well. He needs to go to his own farm where he can do some serious herd building! So he’s up for sale.
I realize I can’t keep all my goats, no matter how much I love them. And after Mac’s little escapade with the does, I admitted that I have a pattern of procrastinating when it comes to selling my kids. After investing so much time, energy and love into each one of them, it’s hard to say goodbye and send them off to a new home. But breeding season is here and Mac is ready to contribute his great genetics to a new herd.
Our goats are healthy— CAE, CL and Johnes negative and our herd it closed. Their worming and shots are up-to-date and their registration papers are ready for transfer. If you know of anyone who is looking for a great little buck, please forward this information. We’re asking $350, cash and carry.
